The Pakistan Industrial and Traders Associations Front (PIAF) have urged the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to reduce the electricity price on permanent basis for providing relief to the public in general and industry in particular. PIAF Chairman Irfan Iqbal Sheikh in his reaction to the NEPRA's decision of reducing electricity rate by Rs 3.24 per unit on account of fuel price adjustment for the month of January 2018, said the power rate for the industry is considerably high which needs to be slashed to lessen the production cost to make the local goods competitive at the international market.
He further asked the NEPRA to further reduce electricity rate in view of diminishing price of the furnace oil and rising hydel power generation. The reduction in electricity price would also help control inflation in the country, he added.
