Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan said on Saturday that Ahad Cheema is frontman of Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif who knows all the secrets of his (Sharif's) corruption. "Ahad Cheema is the parrot within him lies the soul of Shahbaz Sharif," he told a press conference while talking about Sharif's anger after the arrest of former Director General (DG) Lahore Development Authority (LDA) Ahad Cheema, who has been rounded up by top anti-graft body-National Accountability Bureau's (NAB)-over the weekend on corruption charges.
Khan said that Sharif is making a hue and cry over the arrest of Cheema only because he (Cheema) knows all secrets of his (Sharif's) corruption as Shahbaz has a track record of appointing his front men from the bureaucracy to amass wealth through corruption. Dubbing Shahbaz Sharif as "younger don," he said that he was first caught red-handed in corruption in China and was exposed badly when Chinese authorities came to Pakistan to investigate the matter and found out that the company was not registered with Securities & Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).
"The masses are not going to trust the crocodile tears shed by Sharifs in order to hide their corruption. I urge the NAB to probe into their corruption and we stand by NAB and will also help the anti-graft body in collecting evidence," he added.
He alleged that both Sharifs have placed their men at different government departments and Ahad Cheema is one of them, while Saeed Ahmed was appointed as president of National Bank of Pakistan for doing money laundering for Sharifs.
"Aftab Sultan of IB was given third time extension as he serves the Sharifs' interests. Zafar Hijazi had been made in-charge of SECP, and there are so many other people who have specially been handpicked by Sharifs to protect their interests. They [Sharifs] also wanted to appoint their man in the NAB but failed," he added.
He alleged that there are corruption cases, worth Rs 14 billion, against Cheema in just one project, claiming that in nine years Shahbaz Sharif spent Rs 9 trillion and all the money was spent through Sharif family's children and handpicked bureaucrats.
The PTI chairman said that Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Fawad Hassan Fawad is the godfather of bureaucracy as Shahbaz Sharif created his own system in Punjab bureaucracy while big godfather Nawaz Sharif had designed the same system in federal bureaucracy. "The apex court had rightly pointed out that all the institutions are being controlled by the Sharifs all the dirty work of the people sitting on top is done by the bureaucrats," he castigated the corrupt bureaucracy. He said that the banners displayed in the streets of Lahore in wake of Cheema's arrest is a clear indication how important he is for the Sharifs, adding a thorough probe into the matter will expose how clean Sharifs are.
