Senior Director for South and Central Asia at the US National Security Council, Lisa Curtis arrived on emergency visit here on Monday and discussed issues of mutual interest with Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua. Spokesperson Foreign Office Dr Mohammad Faisal stated in a tweet that the visiting senior director for South and Central Asia at the NSC of the US held meeting with the foreign secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the morning.
However, no further details of the issues discussed during the meeting were shared with the media. The visit of the top US diplomat happens at a time when the relations between the two countries saw a further setback due to the last week US-led move at Financial Action Task Force (FATF) for putting Pakistan on terror financing watch list. The Foreign Office spokesperson last week told his media briefing that Pakistan and the US are trying to find a 'common ground' in their bilateral relations, adding, "This is happening outside public glare." "So far, we have not failed," he said, adding the two sides continue to remain engaged.
