Ministry of Interior on Monday placed the names of former chief of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Javed Ashraf Qazi (retd), who also served as railways minister during Musharraf regime, and two others on Exit Control List (ECL), following recommendations of National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Sources in Interior Ministry said that the names of Javed Ashraf Qazi, former Marketing Director of Pakistan Railways Khalid Naqvi and Director of Hasnain Construction Company Ramzan Sheikh were placed on no fly list over their alleged involvement in corruption of over Rs 2 billion in award of a contract regarding railways land.
However, when contacted, spokesman of Ministry of Interior said that he had no information about the matter. The Executive Board Meeting (EBM), presided over by Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal on February 21 approved filing of a reference against Qazi and others. Later the NAB recommended the Ministry of Interior to place the names of Qazi and others on the ECL.
An official of NAB said that the Bureau gave reasons how the accused allegedly in connivance with one another illegally awarded lease of 140 acres of land of Railways Golf Club valuing Rs 2 billion and the investigation was going on against them.
