The PML-N Quaid Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has finally parted ways with his close political associate for past three decades Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan as he did not invite him to the crucial CEC meeting which elected his friend Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif as acting president of the party here on Tuesday.
According to sources, Nawaz Sharif was so much annoyed with former interior minister Nisar Ali Khan that he had ignored the advice of his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif, Federal Railways Minister Saad Rafique and Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq and refused to invite him despite the fact that he had proposed to make Shahbaz President of the party after disqualification of Nawaz Sharif to head PML-N.
It may be added that serious differences had been simmering between Nawaz Sharif and Ch Nisar Ali Khan since July 2017 as Nisar had advised Nawaz to exercise restraint after his ouster and disqualification as the prime minster by the Supreme Court and avoid confrontation with the judiciary.
The former interior minister had also warned that he would make public the Dawn leaks report if (PML-N) does not call a meeting of the Central Executive Committee on the issue and statements being made against him by Pervaiz Rashid. He said, "Dawn leaks is not only a PML-N issue but a matter of sensitive nature."
Nawaz Sharif's advisor and former information minister senator Pervaiz Rashid had described Nisar as hypocrite and demanded his expulsion from PML-N for mishandling Dawn leaks issue: Rashid had demanded that Nisar should quit the PML-N after making his thinking about the party politics known.
As Nawaz Sharif was promoting his daughter as heir apparent, the ex-interior minister had clarified that he can only work with seniors, adding he is not 'political orphan' to call his juniors sir or madam. "I was comfortable in working with Nawaz Sharif and his brother Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif but refuse to continue under supervision of Maryam,"
Nawaz and Nisar had seemingly shared differences when Nisar suggested to Nawaz Sharif to take motorway in his bid to reach Lahore which the ousted PM ignored and undertook four-day GT road journey with the war cry 'Mujhey Keun Nikala'.
Political analysts say that differences have so widened that parting of ways was inevitable with far-reaching consequences on the nation's political horizon.
