The Karachi Port handled 115,005 tonnes of cargo comprising 86,954 tonnes of import cargo and 28,051 tonnes of export cargo including 6,862 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 86,954 tonnes comprised of 37,725 tonnes of containerised cargo; 30,365 tonnes of general cargo; 9,025 tonnes of DAP and 9,839 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 28,051 tonnes comprised of 27,272 tonnes of containerised cargo; 300 tonnes of general cargo and 479 tonnes of sugar. As many as 6,862 containers comprising of 2,907 containers import and 3,955 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 768 of 20's and 1,011 of 40's loaded while 37 of 20's and 40 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 592 of 20's and 421 of 40's loaded containers while 249 of 20's and 1,136 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Los Angeles Trader, Newark, Lian Le Hu, Wie Chi and Al-Mahboobah carrying containers, oil tankers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were five vessels viz. Cosco Durban, Sima Genesis, Glorious, Oriental Sakura and CMB Virginie carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 128,397 tonnes includes 28,300 tonnes of LNG; 000 tonnes of diesel oil; 11,117 tonnes of palm oil; 26,090 tonnes of coal; 7,770 tonnes of soyabean seed; 5,900 tonnes of chemical; 998 tonnes of bitumen and 42,222 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 42,218 tonnes includes 42,218 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 4,760 containers comprising of 2,538 containers import and 2,222 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There were three ships namely CV MSC Elma, MV Simran and MV YM Miranda carrying containers, bitumen and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while another ship namely CV MSC Bilbao carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV MSC Elma, CV Newark, CV Bilbao, CV APL Norway, MV Simran, MV Panorama, MV Jonna Pol, MV Alam Molak, MV YM Miranda, MT Yuhua Star, MT Al Huwaila and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve ships namely CV MSC Busan, MV Yutai Breeze, MV Amadeus, MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Thor Courage, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, steel coil, soyabean seeds, canola seeds, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Maersk Hartford, CV MSC Busan, MV Yutai Breeze, MV Ogino Park and MT Amadeus carrying containers, steel coil, chemical and soyabean seeds respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Multi Purpose Terminal, Engro Vopak Terminal and Grain & Fertilizer Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were four ships namely CV Maersk Hortford, CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Qing Doa Tower and MV Ogino Park carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Tuesday. There are two ships namely CV OOCL Washington and MV Central Park carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday.
