Former secretary of a union council in Bhara Kahu on Wednesday claimed that no objection certificate (NOC) submitted by Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan in the Supreme Court about his Bani Gala residence was never issued by the local authority. Mohammad Umar, the then secretary of the union council, in his reply to the apex court, claimed that the NOC dates back to 2003 when he was posted as the secretary at the union council office. He said that the NOC submitted by the PTI chairman before the apex court is a computerised copy whereas the union council had no computer system then and work was being done manually.
Umar claimed the blueprint for the residence was also fake; saying the union council had asked Imran Khan to submit a blueprint for a go-ahead but it was never submitted. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) had declared the construction of the PTI chairman's house illegal during a hearing on May 9, 2017. The apex court had ordered the CDA to verify the documents submitted by the PTI chairman. A report was submitted by the CDA in the Supreme Court which stated that the authority has declared 122 buildings illegal which included Khan's Bani Gala residence as well. It said that the construction was against the regulations of Islamabad Capital Territory. In a hearing on February 13, the Supreme Court summoned property documents of the Bani Gala residence from the CDA.
Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar warned that the residential structures in Bani Gala would be demolished if they are not found as per the laws and regulations of the CDA. "Building regulations must be abided by," the Chief Justice remarked during the hearing on illegal structures in Bani Gala. The counsel for Khan, Babar Awan maintained that the CDA has no authority over private properties, adding that the constructions around Rawal Dam are illegal.
According to report, over 300 kanals of land had been purchased in the name Jemima Khan, former wife of Imran Khan, in 2002 without taking NOC from the Interior Ministry.
