The Karachi Port handled 178,765 tonnes of cargo comprising 116,477 tonnes of import cargo and 62,288 tonnes of export cargo including 8,333 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 116,477 tonnes comprised of 38,888 tonnes of containerised cargo; 16,556 tonnes of general cargo; 7,359 tonnes of DAP and 53,674 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 62,288 tonnes comprised of 58,126 tonnes of containerised cargo; 580 tonnes of sugar and 3,582 tonnes of wheat. As many as 8,333 containers comprising of 2,646 containers import and 5,687 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 821 of 20's and 861 of 40's loaded while 65 of 20's and 19 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,514 of 20's and 732 of 40's loaded containers while 361 of 20's and 1,174 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely OOCL Washington, Sima Genesis, Hyundai Global, Kota Karim, Navios Felicitas; Amazon Guardian, Oriantal Sakura, Shan Dong Hai Sheng and Indian Light carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were six vessels viz. Hansa Offenburg, MSC Ishyka, Kota Karim, FPMC-21, Lake Sturgeon and Industrial Revolution carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 64,647 tonnes includes 22,224 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,980 tonnes of palm oil; 14,388 tonnes of coal; 8,350 tonnes of soyabean seed; 8,283 tonnes of chemical and 6,422 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 41,306 tonnes includes 41,306 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,512 containers comprising of 338 containers import and 2,174 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely MV Alam Molak and MV Ogino Park carrying coal and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while three more ships namely CV MSC Busan, MV Jonna Pol and MT Al-Salam-II carrying containers, coal and diesel oil respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of seven vessels viz. CV MSC Busan, MV Amadeus, MV Jonna Pol, MV Alam Molak, MT Orino Park, MT Al-Salam-II and MT Yuhua Star were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as ten ships namely MV Sakizaya Wisdom, MV Thor Courage, MV Pacific Victory, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi, MT Red Eagle and MT Yuhua Star carrying canola seeds, coal, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There was four vessels viz. CV OOCL Washington, MV Thor Courage, MV Pacific Victory and MV Central Park carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Thursday. There were five ships namely CV OOCL Washington, CV Maersk Hartford, MV Central Park, MV Ogino Park and MV Caravos Liberty carrying containers, chemical and bulk cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Amazon, CV Uni Florida and CV Qing Doa Tower carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
