The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has arrested two persons on charges of money laundering. Acting on a tip-off, an FIA official said they constituted a team led by Inspector Majid Khan Niazi and took into custody a passenger, identified as Chaudhry Muhammad Liaqat, a resident of Lahore.
He said the accused, who was attempting to leave for Dubai by a Lahore-bound flight No PK-203 was arrested by the FIA team. During his physical examination, 292,000 Euros and 400 British pounds were recovered from him, the official said. During interrogation, the accused revealed that an official of PIA namely Malik Sultan Mahmood was facilitating him. Later, the FIA also apprehended that PIA official, he added. Separately, the FIA also arrested two passengers at the Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) after they were deported from South Africa.
