The South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries have huge potential to enhance regional cooperation with Pakistan in information technology sector. The views were exchanged during a meeting between Founder Chairman of Pakistan Computer Association (PCA) Munawar Iqbal and Zubair Ahmed Malik, Chairman Finance Committee SAARC, Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) held, here on Monday.
The representatives of computer industry and Chairman Finance Committee SAARC, CCI agreed that the opportunity must be tapped for the larger benefit of entire South Asian region. During the meeting held at SAARC Office, Munawar Iqbal was accompanied by a delegation of IT community whereas besides others, Furqan Murtaza Group leader, Syed Asad Hayder, Chairman Media and Sports PCA and Abdullah Malik, Founder President PCA Islamabad were also the part of visiting delegation.
The delegation of IT community on the occasion was of the view that enhancing cooperation in IT sector in South Asian region would not only usher an era of greater economic cooperation between the SAARC countries but it would also contribute in enhancing regional trade and to create job opportunities. Therefore, measures to initiate trade ties and exchange of expertise within the region should be taken on urgent basis.
Zubair Ahmed Malik, Chairman Finance Committee SAARC, acknowledged the importance of boosting regional cooperation in IT sector and said that South Asia was the region blessed with best skilled human resource in the world. Besides, he said, South Asia was a greater market and thus offering lucrative opportunities for investment in this crucial sector of economy. He assured the delegation that efforts to enhance cooperation and interaction between IT community in the region would be carried out at every level.
