The Election Commission of Pakistan on Monday released preliminary lists of delimitation of National Assembly and provincial assemblies. The voters can file objections to the new delimitations till April 3 as the preliminary list of the delimitations is just for 30 days. According to the ECP, Punjab's share on the general seats of the National Assembly has gone down by seven constituencies. Out of a total of 272 National Assembly seats, Punjab's share in the Lower House has been reduced from 148 to 141 in accordance with the population census figures released in January this year.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has gained the most from the new delimitations as its share has gone up from 35 to 39 National Assembly seats. Balochistan has secured two more National Assembly seats, increasing its tally from 14 in 2013 to 16 in 2018. The provincial assembly seats of Punjab are 371; Sindh 168, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 124, and Balochistan, 65. The total provincial assembly seats of all four provinces are 728.
Islamabad's share is also up from two to three seats of National Assembly while the number of seats in Sindh and FATA remained unchanged.
