Kohat lifted the overall trophy by grabbing nine gold medals, six silver medals with 132 points in the Kohat Region Inter-District Under-23 Male Games played here at scenic Kohat Sports Complex on Tuesday. Kohat won gold medals in athletic, judo, wrestling, gymnastic, squash, basketball, badminton, hockey and silver in medal in Tennis, Karate, tug-of-war, Kabbaddi and Table Tennis.
Karak claimed second position Karak won five gold, in table tennis, karate, kabaddi, tennis, four silver medals in athletic, judo, gymnastic and one bronze in wrestling with 82 points and Hangu got third position by grabbing one gold tug of war, five silver in wrestling, squash, basketball, badminton and hockey and four bronze in karate, judo, gymnastic, and table tennis 65 points. In the athletic event Kohat grabbed overall trophy by securing 41 points, followed by Karak with 36 points and Hangu secured 11 points by taking third position respectively. Kohat won four golds in 800m, disc throw, javelin throw, shot put and long jump, three silver medals in 100m, 200m, 400m and 4X100 m reply with bronze medal in disc throw, javelin throw, shot put.
Karak won gold medal in 100m, 200m, 400m, javelin throw and 4X100m relay, silver medal in discuss throw and bronze medal in 100m, 200m, and long jump by securing 36 points and Hangu won silver medals in 800m, javelin throw and shot put and bronze medal in 500m, 800m, and long jump and recorded 11 points. In the shot put event Rahim of Kohat won gold medal with 33.6feet, Wisal with 32.10 of Hangu and Rafique with 32. 9 got silver and bronze medals respectively. In 200m Ihtisham of Karak won gold medal, followed by Noor Azam of Kohat, Khalid Karak, in Discuss throw Rafique Kohat 89.2 m got gold medal, followed by Imran Khan of Karak with 86.4feet and 83feet of Rahim of Kohat got third, in Javelin throw Ahmad Islam 163.9 feet of Karak got first, followed by Adnan of Hangu with 145.6 and Sohail of Kohat with 135.5feet, in Long Jump Rafique of Kohat won gold medal with 17.3 feet, in 4X100 m relay Karak gold first, followed by Kohat and Hangu. In 800m Ihsan Ul Haq of Kohat won gold medal, in 100m Ihtisham of Karak won gold medal.
In the 400m Salman of Karak won gold medal, followed by Rehman Kohat silver medal and Hazrat Bilal of Hangu won bronze medal. In the Tennis Karak upset start studded Kohat by 2-0. Karak Mehran and Irfan beat Mobeen and Kamran of Hangu while Karak beat Kohat when Faisal Rehman beat Irfan by 6-1, 6-1 and Fahat Rehman beat Mehren 6-3, 6-4. In the kabbaddi event Kohat beat Hangu by 15-9 while in the final Karak beat Kohat by 22-20. In Karate Karak won 13 gold against Kohat won by 8 gold, in Judo Kohat won six gold, two silver and Karak took two gold and silver medals.
Kohat defeated Hangu and Karak in the wrestling event and won gold medal. In Gymnastic Kohat with 50.70 points got first position, followed by Karak with 42 points and Hangu remained third with 26.80 point.
Member Provincial Assembly Zia Ullah Bangash was the chief guest on this occasion who gave away trophies, gold, silver and bronze medal and cash prizes of Rs 20,000 and Rs 15000. DG Sports Junaid Khan, Director Operation KP Syed Saqlain Shah, Director Development Salim Raza, AD Sports Niamat Ullah, Munir Abbas, AD Development, District Sports Officer Zakir Ullah, Provincial Coach Shafqat Ullah, DSO Kohat Syed Sikander Shah, Naveed (DSO Hangu), Ismail Khan (DSO Karak) and large number of spectators were also present.
