The 3rd edition of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Bannu Region Male Games got under way at beautifully decorated Bannu Sports Complex grounds amidst tight security as great enthusiasm witnessed among all the participating 430 male players. Assistant Commissioner (AC) Bannu, Tahir Saleem was the chief guest on this occasion. Former International hockey player Anwar Rashid, Director Sports Naimat Ullah, Director Operation Syed Saqlain Shah, District Sports Officer Lakki Marwat Shafqat Ullah, Amir Zahid Shah (Bannu), AD Development Munir Abbas, President KP Kabaddi Association Pir Barkat Ullah, Zakir Ullah, officials and large number of spectators were also present.
Assistant Commissioner Tahir Saleem formally announced the commencement of the Games wherein more than 430 male players are taking part in 15 different games comprising athletic, basketball, badminton, cricket, judo, handball, volleyball, table tennis, karate, wrestling, lawn tennis, gymnastic, squash, hockey, and tug of war. On opening day in table tennis Bannu defeated Lakki Marwat by 3-0, in the 800m Luqman of Bannu got first gold medal, followed by Muhammad Murtaza of Bannu and Muhammad Nazir of Lakki Marwat.
In the opening day match of tug-of-war Bannu defeated Lakki by 2-1. AC Kohat Tahir Saleem gave away trophies and cash prizes to the winners and runners-up. The winner was awarded Rs 20,000 while the runners got Rs 15000 cash prize.
