A special province-wise drive was carried out by the Punjab Food Authority on Saturday to ensure implementation of "Punjab Food Authority Educational Instructions Food Standards Regulation" in public and private schools. The food safety teams inspected 464 school canteens and ensured the ban on sale of carbonated drinks and Chooran (a flavoured chemically treated edible salt).
PFA Additional Director General (Operations) Rafia Haider said that teams had sealed total 17 school canteens in a whole day activity, among eight in Lahore Zone, five in Rawalpindi Zone and four in Multan Zone. The teams have also imposed fine on 168 canteens and served warning notices on 279 violators.
