In a major development related to today's scheduled elections of chairman and deputy chairman of Senate of Pakistan, Supreme Court of Pakistan has allowed five Senators-elect to participate in vote for new chairman Senate and Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) issued their nonfictions conditionally. The apex court decided to constitute a larger bench to settle the matter of their dual nationality. The chief justice was spot-on insofar as the criticality of the issue is concerned. No doubt, as stated by the chief justice, the matter needs serious deliberations and interpretation of laws including Article 63 (1) (c) of the Constitution. These Senators-elect include Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's Chaudhry Sarwar. According to reports, he argued out his case before the honourable judges of Supreme Court. Dual nationality continues to be a thorny issue; it needs to be resolved without any further loss of time. It's heartening to see the Supreme Court is aiming to resolve this issue once and for all.
