Punjab Agriculture department has sold 50,000 summer vegetable seed kits on subsides rate across the province. Sources in Agriculture department told Business Recorder on Monday that government was very keen to promote kitchen gardening to enable the people to get fresh home grown vegetable. The concept of provision of seed kits to enable the people to grow fresh and organic vegetables on empty land in their homes for obtaining fresh vegetables.
The step has been taken for promotion of "kitchen Gardening Culture" and to create awareness about the importance and utility of home grown fresh vegetables across the Province. Kitchen gardening has gained popularity among the people especially the women folk in different districts including Sialkot. The kitchen gardening is actively attaching highest importance in the wake of upsurge in prices, malnutrition, poverty alleviation and consumption of fresh and home grown vegetables.
Under the programme as many as 1300 seed kits were sold in Sialkot, 1000 Narowal, Gujrat 1000, Gujranwala 1300 and Mandi Baha ud Din 1000 districts on subsides price to facilitate the people and to ensure promotion of kitchen gardening Culture at gross roots level.
