Punjab Minister for Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education (SH&ME) Khawaja Salman Rafique has directed the concerned officers to re-notify the Punjab Prevention and Control of Dengue Regulations immediately. He also directed all the concerned departments and the deputy commissioners to enhance dengue surveillance & vector control activities for effective control on dengue breeding.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Dengue, here on Monday. Besides, elected public representatives, senior officers of all the concerned departments including Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education department and Primary & Secondary Healthcare department, Incharge Chief Minister Dengue Research Cell, Professor Waseem Akram, public health experts and the team of dengue experts' advisory group were present.
The deputy commissioners and the officers of Health department of other Districts participated in the meeting through video link & updated the Minister regarding the anti-dengue activities at district level. Additional Director General Dengue Control Programme, Dr Shehnaz briefed the meeting regarding the present situation and dengue control activities in the province.
The minister directed the medical superintendents to screen the suspected dengue patients coming with fever and other symptoms in the hospitals. He said that under reporting of dengue patients from the hospitals would not be tolerated.
Salman Rafique also directed the district administrations and the departments to continue their vector surveillance and dengue monitoring activities to ensure effective control on the issue.
