Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has chalked out a strategy to recover outstanding dues against the federal and provincial government departments This was stated during a meeting chaired by Pesco Chief Executive, Engineer Zakaullah Khan Gandapur here at Wapda house on Monday. Chief Engineer Operation Muhammad Iqbal Marwat, Chief Engineer Commercial Mian Hamid, all SEs and Pesco's senior officers were present. While discussing Pesco dues against Federal and Provincial govt departments, the meeting said a strategy was chalked out for the recovery of Rs 19.855 billion outstanding dues against federal and provincial government departments.
The meeting reviewed the progress regarding replacement of defective meters. It was also discussed the provision of new connections to public and decided to provide the remaining new connections immediately. The meeting discussed the progress achieved in photo meter reading. It was also reviewed that the Pesco will continue drive against illegal use of electricity and direct hooks. The meeting has taken important decisions in this regard. Zakaullah Khan on the occasion directed to implement photo meter reading 100 per cent so that over billing complaints of the consumers redressed. He said that line losses were the main cause of Pesco's deficit.
Pesco chief also directed to accelerate the process. He directed SEs to improve their performance so as to facilitate consumers. Similarly, he ordered no one should be spared who is involved in power theft, as due to power pilferage Pesco's distribution system is over loaded on one side and on the other side Pesco's line losses increase. He also directed to carry out maintenance of lines so that no technical fault is occurred in the forthcoming summer.
