Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has powers under Article 20 of the Constitution to investigate irregularities in Senate elections. Talking to media persons here outside the ECP building on Wednesday, she said ECP should take notice of horse-trading in Senate elections and question those who are responsible for it. "If a party with 30 seats gets 44 votes, it raises suspicions that the party has used unlawful means to win the seat," she added.
She said Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) neither did cheating nor did any corruption. She said ECP had taken notice of PML-N's application. The PML-N wanted to put in place a law to stop horse-trading, she added. The state minister said that every institution of the country should work while remaining within the framework of the Constitution.
