The Sindh High Court (SHC) Wednesday accepted a constitutional petition of Pasban-e-Pakistan president Altaf Shakoor for hearing against the Sindh Universities Intuitions Law (Amendment) Bill 2018 and issued notice to the respondents. Pasban chief through his counsel Irfan Aziz filed the petition, making the Government of Sindh through chief secretary, Sindh provincial assembly through its speaker and chief minister of Sindh respondents.
The petitioner has prayed to declare the impugned bills as unconstitutional, illegal, void ab initio and of no legal effect. He prayed to restrain the respondents, their servants agents, subordinates and anybody else claiming through or under them no to act on the impugned bills and also restrain them from proceeding further on the impugned bills, and suspend the operation of the impugned bills, pending to final court decision. The petitioner maintained that provincial government is misusing its power and jurisdictions in education sector, which would result in downfall of educational standards in the province. The next hearing of the case is fixed on 29th March.
