The Karachi Port handled 118,312 tonnes of cargo comprising 88,374 tonnes of import cargo and 29,938 tonnes of export cargo including 3,164 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 88,374 tonnes comprised of 27,203 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,490 tonnes of bulk cargo and 59,681 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 29,938 tonnes comprised of 14,222 tonnes of containerised cargo; 607 tonnes of bulk cargo; 4,382 tonnes of loose bulk cement; 9,227 tonnes of wheat and 1,500 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 3,164 containers comprising of 1,695 containers import and 1,469 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 885 of 20's and 315 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 90 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 447 of 20's and 63 of 40's loaded containers while 140 of 20's and 378 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were six ships namely MSC Positano, Sima Genesis, MT Lahore, Bunga Lavender, Al Mahboobah and Mohar carrying containers, oil tankers, chemical and cement respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were seven vessels viz. Wan Hai-510, Maliakos, Mid Fortune, Lyric Camellia, SG Jupiter, Dubai Galactic and Sevgi carrying containers, oil tankers, wheat and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 92,096 tonnes includes 10,200 tonnes of LNG; 435 tonnes of palm kernel; 13,073 tonnes of coal; 10,004 tonnes of chemical; 52,000 tonnes of general cargo and 6,384 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 53,100 tonnes includes 3,311 tonnes of rice, 10,649 tonnes of condensate and 39,140 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 2,396 containers comprising of 336 containers import and 1,060 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were two ships namely MV Dreggen and MV Christina-L carrying chemical and coal respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Tomoko and MT Macoma carrying containers and LNG respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV MSC Tomoko, MV Sea Meray, MV Agri Princess, MV Christina-L, MV Thor Maxmimum, MV Dreggen, MT Macoma, MT African Macaw and MT Totono Bottiglieri were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, condensate, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, LNG and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as fifteen ships namely CV Teno, MV Soho Trader, MV Du Juan Song, MV Baltic Panther, MV TVS Beach Wood, MV Serene Juniper, MV Nikolas-III, MV Parnsos, MV GH Storm Cat, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Al-Dasma, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Jo Pinari and MT Red Eagle carrying containers, talcum powder, general cargo, coal, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Teno, MV Baltic Panther, MV GH Storm Cat and MT Caspian Gas carrying containers, coal and LPG respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and SSGC LPG Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were seven ships namely MV Sea Fortune, MV Hong Kong, MV Chem Dream, MV Makiki, MT Al Oraiq, MT Adam and MT JO Pinari carrying chemical, coal, steel coil, mogas, LNG and diesel oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are four ships namely CV Hugo Schulte, CV San Felix, CV Songa Calabria and MV Industrial Century carrying containers and project cargo respectively due to arrive on Friday.
