Jamaat-e-Islami has convened a meeting of its central executive committee today to discuss political situation and assess progress of the JI drive against corruption. According to official spokesman, JI Emir Senator Sirajul Haq has convened the meeting of central executive committee to discuss ongoing political situation and other challenges facing the country.
The party will discuss in detail upcoming general election, Senate election, expected election alliance with likeminded parties and revival of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), for which a high-level meeting is going to be held in Karachi on March 20.
The Jamaat-e-Islami has time and again been demanding for initiating action against all those people named in Panama Leaks but so far action has been taken only against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The party will also discuss the achievements and shortcomings of past 10 years of democratic setup in the country.
Secretary General JI Liaqat Baloch said that Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has been in power in Sindh for last many years but people are still leading animals' life there. He said that common man rightly believes that the ruling junta has been responsible for his deprivations and problems. He said that Jamaat-e-Islami wants to start a massive drive to create awareness among the masses about their rights as politicians and dictators have deprived them of their basic rights. Not only rural areas but also urban areas of the country, especially Sindh and Balochistan, are deprived of safe drinking water, let aside all other necessities, he remarked. He said that the Corruption Free Pakistan movement of the Jamaat-e-Islami created awareness among masses, adding that every citizen wants elimination of corruption and recovery of plundered money from corrupt elite.
The JI secretary general further said that the country needs persons of neat and clean character to strengthen the democratic system. He said those who managed to reach the assemblies through the power of their wealth are not public representatives. Instead, they are traders who purchased assembly seats by spending billions of rupees and then minted trillions of rupees from the public money through unfair means and made their personal bank balances. He said that the corrupt secular mafia defamed the country and deceived 88 percent masses who want the Islamic system.
He maintained that the solution to all the problems of the nation lies in enforcement of the Shariah (Islamic Law). He expressed hope that the MMA would emerge as a big force in coming election to enforce the Islamic system.
