An executive passport office will be established in Koh-e-Noor centre to provide passports facility, particularly to the business community within 10-15 minutes, said Mir Alam Khan Director General National Database & Registration Authority (NADRA). Addressing the members of Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers and Exporters Association (PHMA) here on Friday, he said exports are the lifeline of Pakistan and it is very encouraging that value-added textile sector is contributing a major share in total exports of Pakistan.
He said in view of the important role of exporters, NADRA has decided to provide facility of passport and Computerised National Identity Card at door steps of the people. Regarding executive passport office in Faisalabad, he said it will work round the clock and applicants could get their passport within only 10-15 minutes in a hassle-free environment.
He said steps are also being taken for the delivery of passport at the door step of the applicants. Mir Alam said NADRA has world class identification system of fingerprinting and this facility could also be provided to the PHMA like banks etc. He assured to review the request of PHMA to provide it access to the NADRA system for the identification and verification of the record of its staff and workers.
Earlier PHMA chairman Mian Naeem Ahmed welcomed the DG NADRA and highlighted the problems confronted by exports in getting passports and CNICs. He said Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association has been working since 1960 and it is recognised country wide. He said PHMA has contributed a share of $3.2 billion annually in the overall textile export of Pakistan. Khawaja Muhammad Amjad former Chairman Pakistan Hosiery Manufacturers & Exporters Association and other leading exporters including Syed Alamdar Hussain, Qamar Aftab, Usman Rauf and Kashif Zia were also present in the meeting.
