Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has flying start by winning 10 gold medals in taekwondo and team gold medal in squash event by defeating strong Punjab's team in the finals of the ongoing 4th Inter-Provincial Games. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa won 10 gold medals, nine silver and three bronze medals by securing 256 points, Punjab got 156 points with three gold medals and nine silver and four bronze medals, FATA took third position with 146 points after winning four gold medal, one silver and 16 bronze medals. Sindh recorded fourth position with three gold medals, two silver medals and 10 bronze medals.
In the team event squash Komal Khan recorded victory against Noor-ul-Ain in a tough single, the score was 11-6, 7-11, 11-8 and 12-10. When Komal won the first single Nimra of KP lost to Aiman Shahbaz of Punjab in straight set, the score was 11-6, 11-4 and 11-6.
Laiba Ijaz defeated Punjab's top seed Sidqa in a thrilling 3-1, the score was 11-8, 9-11, 11-6 and 11-7. Laiba, the double gold medalist of the Quaid-e-Azam held in Islamabad recently, did not look behind and brought the team to Team gold after winning a vital match against Punjab's top seed.
In the individual event Komal Khan, the current Under-19 Champion defeated Noor-ul-Ain by 3-0, the score was 11-8, 11-6 and 11-9 and moved to the final while Laiba lost to Aiman Shahbaz in the semi-finals at 3-1, the score was 11-5, 6-11, 11-9 and 11-7. Komal defeated Noor-ul-Ain in the first semi-final and Aiman Shahbaz defeated Nimra Aqeel in the quarter-finals.
