I am delighted to inaugurate World Islamic Finance Forum (WIFF) 2018, organized by IBA-CEIF in collaboration with LUMS and INCEIF, Malaysia. Growth of Islamic Finance in the country has been one of the key agenda items for the Government of Pakistan. Conducive regulatory environment and infrastructure provided by the Government has played a pivotal role in the impressive growth shown by this sector in the country since inception. Pakistan is ranked as one of the leading markets for Islamic finance in the world. Islamic financial Institutions in Pakistan have emerged as role models in the global Islamic finance arena.
We urge Islamic financial institutions in Pakistan to play a pivotal role in financial inclusion by expanding outreach through innovative products and services. To achieve this objective, it is imperative that knowledge and experiences of other countries are shared for developing new products, especially targeted towards SME and microfinance segments.
I am hopeful that discussions during WIFF 2018 amongst regulators, Shariah scholars, academicians and Islamic finance practitioners from across the globe will contribute towards providing a strategic direction to the industry. The contribution made by IBA CEIF in the field of Islamic Finance since its inception in October 2015 is commendable.
