The incidents of theft and car lifting showed sharp increase in the heavily guarded capital city during the last week, indicating inefficiency of police. According to data gathered by Business Recorder through registered first information reports (FIRs), over 10 cases of various kinds of theft including robbery, snatching and burglary, eight cases of vehicle theft and two cases of kidnapping were reported to various police stations of the city last week.
The most "favourite" areas for the criminal gangs were within the limits of Industrial Area and Sabzi Mandi police stations in the aforementioned period. Industrial Area police station registered one case of robbery and three cases of carjacking. Salman Ahmad lodged a complaint with Industrial Area police station that accused Uzma and Sadia stole cash from his house.
Motor vehicle thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIV-893 of Ali Waseem parked near a private school, lifted a bike bearing registration number GTO-1710 of Amjad Ali, stole a bike of Muhammad Naveed and lifted another bike bearing registration number RIR-7974 of Shahbaz Ali from the limits of Industrial Area police station.
During the period under review, Sabzi Mandi police station registered two cases each of robbery and auto theft. Abdur Rehman informed Sabzi Mandi police station that two unknown robbers riding a bike snatched mobile phone from him. While another Talha Mehmood reported to the same police station that unidentified pickpocket stole mobile phone from his pocket. Auto thieves stole bike (BN-467) of Waheed Ahktar and bike (AQQ-560) of Kashif Muneer from the limits of same police station.
Similarly, Aabpara police station registered two cases of robbery during the last week. Bahadur-ul-Hassan lodged a complaint with Aabpara police station that unknown people stole a laptop and a bank cheque book from his car. Another Imran Hussain filed a complaint with the same police station that unknown bandits stole cash, prize bonds and gold ornaments from his house.
