Public sector companies: CJP takes notice of high salaries being paid to officials
Chief Justice Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar while hearing a case of Strategic Management and Internal Response Unit (SMIRU) took notice of high salaries being paid to government officials in public sector companies in Punjab and called the record of all such companies. The Chief Justice observed that misuse of the public money would not be allowed and also called details of the salaries of officers engaged on higher salaries in SMIRU.
He said under what law doctors are receiving about rupees one million per month from the SMIRU while in public hospitals the same doctors are not receiving more than two lac rupees. The CJP said they would think about banning private practice of doctors. Doctors would be bound to perform their duties and ensure their presence in the public hospitals, he further said.
The CJP also observed under what law the retired officers are receiving high salaries, adding that they would not allow handing over the country to the contractors like East Indian Company.
The CJP therefore directed the Chief Secretary Punjab to submit details of the salaries and facilities enjoyed by the officials in public sector companies in Punjab.
