Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC)'s Preventive Cardiology Department inaugurated here on Tuesday which was set up with the collaboration of Imperial College London. Professor John Chambers, representing Imperial College London, inaugurated the new department.
While addressing the gathering of doctors and paramedics on the occasion, Professor Nadeem Hayat Mallick, Chief Executive PIC, and Professor John Chambers emphasized on the importance of prevention of heart diseases and highlighted that incidence of heart attack has decreased up to 80 percent in the UK by following prevention protocols only.
This pilot project was initiated at Punjab Institute of Cardiology, Lahore, and later will involve other institutions as well with ultimate goal of having community, health workers and nutrition specialists visiting door-to-door and advising on prevention of heart diseases.
Meanwhile, 12th All Pakistan Arts and Photography exhibition was held at King Edward Medical University (KEMU). Secretary Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education (SH&ME) Najam Ahmad Shah inaugurated the exhibition. KEMU VC Professor Amir Zaman Khan, Professor Kazi Saeed, Professor Irshad Hussain Qureshi and other faculty members were also present on the occasion.
On the occasion, Professor Amir Zaman Khan informed the Secretary that 30 educational institutions, including King Edward Medical University, have participated in this exhibition from all over the country and more than 1500 pieces of art have been displayed in the exhibition.
