A signing ceremony of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) and Engro Fertilizers Limited (EFERT), Karachi was held at PMD headquarters office Islamabad on Monday. The team of PMD experts (including Chief Meteorologist, Research & Development and Director of National Agromet Centre) was led by PMD's Director General Dr Ghulam Rasul while the EFERT team was led by Dr Muhammad Umair Aslam, Desktop Agronomist, Agri Business Solutions Division of Engro Fertilizer Limited, Karachi.
PMD and EFERT will establish a Farmers Advisory Service for Wheat-Rice belt of Punjab and Sindh provinces. Mainly EFERT would acquire weather forecast from PMD and will prepare advisory for the farmers in consultation with agriculture experts accordingly. Besides, field staff of EFERT will update PMD about the actual ongoing agronomic conditions on regular basis. EFERT will support PMD for maintenance / operation of the agromet network and explore resources for expansion of network.-PR
