The Accountability Court hearing corruption references against former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his family members on Wednesday issued its detailed order regarding rejection of exemption pleas filed by Sharif family members for one week.
Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz had filed their exemption pleas through their counsel Khawaja Haris seeking one week exemption from March 26 from personal appearance in the court. The court on March 22 rejected the pleas.
According to the detailed court order, the accused have sought exemption from appearance from March 26 to onward for a week. The date is fixed in the case as March 27 according to diary of lawyers. There is sufficient time for the accused between today to that date of hearing, it says. Applicants may also use modern devices available today to meet other family members and doctors team.
It says that in this case long statements of witnesses are yet to be recorded whereas remaining time is in fact very short. If accused do not come back due to one or other reason, proceeding could not be conducted and completed in their absence therefore the application stand rejected.
