Jordan tenders to buy 100,000 tonnes of wheat

Jordan's main state grains buyer has again issued an international tender to purchase 100,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat which can be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Wednesday. The tender closes on April 3. This is the ninth tender for 100,000 tonnes of wheat Jordan has issued this year.
Jordan made its first reported wheat purchase in 2018 on Tuesday when 50,000 tonnes were bought in an international tender in which just two trading houses participated. Jordan has struggled to make purchases in a series of grain tenders in recent months, with traders saying uncertainty about quality control and payment terms has reduced participation by major grain exporting houses. The new tender sought wheat in a series of possible shipment combinations in 50,000 tonne consignments between August 1 and September 30.
