Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has demanded that the FPCCI should be taken on board while negotiating bilateral Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) particularly FTA with China. The members of FPCCI's general body unanimously resolved that without FPCCI, no FTA should be considered or negotiated and FPCCI be taken on board, particularly on Phase-II of Pak-China FTA.
The general body meeting was held where its members thrashed out the issues of Pakistan's trade and specifically trade deficit of $15 billion in trade with China under FTA. They expressed concern that the country's exports are not penetrating the Chinese market while products from China have flooded the Pakistan's markets. They lamented that trade benefit seems unilateral and in favour of China. Finally, they adopted a resolution, in this regard, unanimously seeking their say on FTA related matters.
