"Women entrepreneurs play vital role in the economic growth of any country. Women entrepreneurs face lot of problems right from the beginning till the enterprise functions."These views were expressed by speakers in a round table organized by HomeNet Pakistan in collaboration with Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The aim of organizing the round table is to share the findings generated from the findings of "Gendered Market survey for strategy and development and gender power analysis" conducted in Lahore and Karachi.
Rehmatul Javed, Chairperson SMEDA said that LCCI is already cognizant of women empowerment.
There are prospects of establishing Business centers in Lahore for startups.
Dr Nadia Tahir, Director Research and Development, LCCI said that most of the home based workers belong to informal sector. She called for including the informal sector in the economic growth planning.
She said that in developing countries like Pakistan women workers faces difficulties due to their gender. When it comes to the informal workers, the exploitation is even higher than it is seen in formal sector.
Ume Laila Azhar from HomeNet Pakistan said that it is important to have a gender analysis and Gendered Market survey for ensuring women participation in economic development.
She said that the based on the analysis and the proposed devised strategy, HomeNet Pakistan would be able to improve its marketing, enterprise development and business strategies.
