Chicago Board of Trade wheat futures rose 1.6 percent on Thursday, following a more than 2 percent spike in K.C. wheat prices amid cold and dry US Plains weather that could stress plants, traders said. CBOT May wheat settled 9 cents higher at $4.64-3/4 per bushel, just below their earlier 2-1/2-week high of $4.66. K.C. May wheat reached a multi-week peak and also closed a chart gap opened during a descent in prices last month. MGEX spring wheat gained about 2 percent.
