Chief of Jamaat-e-Islami, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that if the federal government did not grant lawful rights to the people of FATA, the tribal people would be constrained to lay a siege around Islamabad and the provincial capital Peshawar. According to media cell of JI at Mansoora, he was addressing a large public meeting at Mehmand agency on Tuesday at which a number of notables of the area announced joining the JI.
The JI chief was given a warm welcome on reaching Mehmand and was brought to the meeting place in a procession. Sirajul Haq said that the corrupt rulers had pushed the country to the brink of destruction. The Pak rupee did not have any value whereas dollar was continuously going up. He said, the ruling elite were least concerned about the problems facing the country and they had not capability of resolving these problems.
Sirajul Haq said that the people of FATA wanted abolition of the FCR and basic facilities of education, health and jobs. They were also demanding their share in the National Finance Commission. He said that at present, NADRA had blocked the national identity cards of thousands of tribal people although this was the basic right of every citizen.
The JI chief stressed upon the Prime Minister to give a patient hearing to the problems of the tribal people and take necessary steps for their solution. The tribal people, he said, were patriotic people and terming them as terrorists and doubting their loyalty was the enemy agenda. He said the tribal people had their history as they had offered memorable sacrifices for the country's defense and solidarity. Referring to the change of parties by different politicians, he said that the masses knew these people full well and would not be hoodwinked by their change of parties.
