Nurses of Mardan district on the third day continued their token strike on Monday against the PTI-led government for not implementing their upgradation decision, restructuring and other demands in almost all the public sector hospitals and health institutions in the district.
They also announced to continue the protest till acceptance of their demands. The nurses association had given the call for strike. The protesting nurses boycotted duties at the Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) and District Headquarter Hospital (DHQ) of the district. The nurses took out rallies and demonstrations against the provincial government for not implementing their time scale.
They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans in support of their demands and blamed the PTI-led government for not implementing their due rights. Hakeem Khan, president district Mardan Nursing Officer Association, Mohammd Akhtar Muner, general secretary, Sajjid Ali, finance secretary, senior vice president Ismail, vice president Iqbal Khan, press secretary Minhaj ul Islam and others while addressing to a protest meeting at Mardan Medical Complex (MMC) strongly condemned the PTI provincial government and demanded of the government to give time scale to nursing staff, approve scale wise health professional allowance, also approve restructuring and also approve the compensatory allowance which was announced in 2015.
They also urged the government to give permission to the nurses of private practice and also give them risk allowance. They also urged the government to give the nurses school and colleges in the jurisdiction of Director General Health services. They also announced to join the nurses protest rally which will be held on April 18, in front of Peshawar press club.
