The Karachi Port handled 184,122 tonnes of cargo comprising 134,357 tonnes of import cargo and 49,765 tonnes of export cargo including 4,882 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Tuesday. The total import cargo of 134,357 tonnes comprised of 36,894 tonnes of containerised cargo; 5,881 tonnes of bulk cargo; 33,351 tonnes of coal and 58,231 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 49,765 tonnes comprised of 26,646 tonnes of containerised cargo; 1,090 tonnes of bulk cargo; 18,086 tonnes of wheat and 3,943 tonnes of wheat (Gandum). As many as 4,882 containers comprising of 2,539 containers import and 2,343 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 819 of 20's and 730 of 40's loaded while 08 of 20's and 126 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 808 of 20's and 261 of 40's loaded containers while 71 of 20's and 471 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Express Black Sea, Libra, Langeoog, Wooyang Hermes and Rickmers Hamburg carrying containers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. MS Tiger, Navios Verano, MT Quetta and Langeoog carrying containers, oil tanker and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.
A cargo volume of 126,899 tonnes comprising 104,980 tonnes of import cargo and 21,919 tonnes of export cargo including 5,171 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Tuesday.
The total import cargo of 104,980 tonnes includes 328 tonnes of LPG; 9,790 tonnes of palm oil; 11,000 tonnes of coal; 759 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 1,289 tonnes of bitumen; 2,660 tonnes of chemical and 79,154 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 21,919 tonnes includes 2,824 tonnes of rice and 19,095 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 5,171 containers comprising of 4,166 containers import and 1,005 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Tuesday. There was one ship namely MV Cypress Galaxy carrying chemical sailed out to sea on Tuesday morning, while two more ships namely CV MSC Esthi and CV Express Black Sea carrying containers respectively are expected to sail on the same day afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Esthi, CV MSC Haidi, CV Express Black Sea, MV Daytona Beach, MV Asma, MV Ocean Prelate, MV Endeavour Strait, MV Lowland Amstel, MV Cypress Galaxy and MT Horizon were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, rice, bitumen, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours. As many as twelve ships namely MV Crimson Empress, MV Zhen Bang, MV Wooyang Hermes, MV Free State, MV Vindo Nissa, MV ST Cergue, MV SC Tianjin, MV TRF Bergen, MV African Hotn Bill, MT Maria-III, MT Glorious and MT UACC Ibn Al-Hajiham carrying soyabean, canola seeds, steel product, coal, chemical, cement, LPG and diesel oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Chicago, CV GSL Tianjin, MV ST Cergue and MV TRF Bergen carrying containers, coal and chemical respectively expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Iron Ore & Coal Berth and Engro Vopak Terminal respectively on Tuesday. There were two ships namely CV Maersk Chicago and CV GSL Tianjin carrying containers due to arrive on Tuesday.
