NAB Karachi during a series of raids conducted over the period of previous two days and Wednesday arrested two accused persons, Javed Qamar who is currently serving as Director Establishment DMC West Karachi and Ramzan Solangi PS to Secretary Local Government. Javed Qamar has been remanded in physical custody by Accountability Court, Karachi.
It has been alleged in investigation against Qamaruddin Shaikh that he has been accumulating illegal assets by misuse of his authority and corruption, which is handled by Javed Qamar front man, on his behalf. During raid and search operation conducted at the house of Javed Qamar a huge cash including foreign currency and bonds valuing Rs20 million was recovered from his possession. Also documents of properties in the names of benamidars valuing millions of rupees, accumulated out of illegally acquired corruption money, were recovered along with documents of fake firms made in names of benamidars for awarding of contracts.
In another raid, Ramzan Solangi was arrested from his office; from whose possession huge amount of cash and valuable assets including bonds, properties and gold bars have been recovered (Quantity of assets is being counted at the time of issuance of this press release). Ramzan Solangi has been serving as PS to Secretaries Local Govt. Department for over a decade and allegedly collecting monthly bribes from DMCs, UCs and various local govt. entities. Interrogation of both accused is being carried out, on the basis of which search operation is still continuing which might unearth more members of gang.-PR
