Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P)- Bahadurabad Group- on Friday criticized the removing and tearing of their banners against power outages and acute water shortage in the city and demanded of the federal government to take strict legal action against the elements involved.
Party's coordination committee accused the government and rival political parties of indulging in undemocratic and strong-arm tactics against MQM Pakistan for raising the issues confronting the masses of metropolis.
Party displayed banners against K-Electric for electricity load-shedding and shortage of water at pedestrian bridges and roundabouts to show solidarity with the people of Karachi, who have been subjected to immense hardships due to ill-performance of utilities providers.
Coordination Committee pointed out that these banners were removed and tore under a planned strategy as the banners inscribed with the same nature of slogans by Sindh government, Pak Sarzameen Party and Jamaat-e-Islami still exists, which reflects that all political opponents of MQM Pakistan have joined hands against it.
It also described the act as "unlawful", which has been undertaken to push the party to the wall and questioned what message has been sent by all political rivals of MQM Pakistan through such tactics. "Whether our political rivals want MQM Pakistan not to participate in the coming general elections," it remarked.
Coordination Committee appealed to Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to take notice of this situation and should order stringent action against the elements involved in removing and tearing of banners of MQM Pakistan.
