Dera Ismail Khan made a clean sweep by securing 130 points after obtaining all the winners trophies of the 13 different disciplines part of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Under-23 Dera Ismail Khan Region Inter-District Female Games which concluded at Ratta Gulachi Sports Complex Friday.
With one side the Dera lifted all the winners trophies and on the other the players from Tank came up with some tough battles against their strong rivals despite lacking due facilities of games but home but thanks to District Sports Officer (DSO) Tank Razi Ullah Betani whose motivations worked nicely and the players of Tank certainly felt their presence in different events.
Tank's Amina got the honor of being declared as the fastest female player when she bewildered the athletes of Dera far behind by winning the 100m gold with a record time. International athletic coach Syed Jaffar Shah on this occasion specially awarded Amina for winning the 100m sprint gold medal with a record time and expressed the hope that if she continues proper practice she would soon become a national athlete.
DSO D. I. Khan Anwar Kamal Burki was jubilant enough when Dera won the overall trophy with 130 points, followed by Tank with 91 points. The players of Tank even made some upsets in the Judo event, they were playing for the first time and won gold and silver medals.
Ratta Kulachi Sports Complex will certainly be the biggest Stadium of the KP area wise, but was in dilapidated condition, giving a deserted look and needed a thorough rehabilitation or at least a white wash. The encroachers have also encroached Ratta Kulachi Stadium area as presence of a Police Station and food dump godams constructed during IDPs times still there unchecked inside its premises which need to be vacated as policy of the PTI government.
In the Athletic Dera got overall trophy of the Athletic by securing 32 points with three gold medals, five silvers and one bronze medal while Tank got runners-up trophy with 23 points with three gold medals, one silver medal and five bronze medals.
Musarat of Dera Ismail Khan was declared as the best athlete as she won gold medal of 200m, javelin throw and discuss throw and played a key role in steering Dera Ismail Khan to win the overall trophy.
In the 200m Musarat of Dera Ismail Khan won gold medal, followed by Samina from the same while Rimsha got bronze medals, in the Javelin throw Musarat won gold medal with a distance of 60.4 feet, followed by Amina of Tank and Sana of Tank with 60.2 and 56.5 feet, in the long jump Neha of Tank won gold medal, followed by Maryum of Dera Ismail Khan and Rimsha of Tank, in the discus throw Musarat won gold medal, followed by Laiba of Tank and Romma of Dera Ismail Khan, in 100m Amina of Tank won gold medal, followed by Tehmina of Dera Ismail Khan and Orwa of Dera Ismail Khan, in the shot put Romma of Dera Ismai Khan won gold medal, followed by Shahida of Dera Ismail Khan and Sana of Tank.
In table tennis Saman, Aqsa, Javeria, Tayyaba and Aysha of Dera defeated Hifsa, Mukarama, Suhama, Umm-e-Hani and Laiba of Tank in straight sets. Dera team comprising Nosheen, Maryum, Aarfa, Mahnoor, Rimsha defeated Mehak Ramina, Laiba, Irum and Sawera in Squash. In Judo Dera Ismail Khan claimed five gold medal and three silver medal by recording 75 points by taking the winner trophy, Tank got three gold medals and five silver medals by securing 55 points.
