Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari on Sunday accused federation of targeting masses of Karachi via power cuts while asserting that 'fragile democracy' had been practiced in country. He was talking to the media here in Multan on Sunday after offering condolences to Yousaf Raza Gillani on death of his nephew.
"Talks with federal government on issue of appointing caretaker premier are underway. We [PPP and ruling PML-N] would finalize the name soon", Bilawal told reporters adding, "A strong democracy will ensure strong Pakistan".
Bilawal reiterated that PPP would make southern Punjab a new province if the party gains power in centre whereas he accused ousted premier Nawaz Sharif of hatching conspiracies against Benazir Bhutto and Junejo's governments. He taunted that why Mian Saab [read Nawaz Sharif] did not remember sanctity of vote when he was receiving dictation from Ziaul Haq.
Lashing out at Nawaz Sharif, he said it did not suit him to shout the slogan 'Vote Ko Izzat Do'. "He says vote ko izzat do but came to the parliament only six time after being elected its leader for the third time," Bilawal said.
"When you don't attend sessions of the National Assembly to legislate or oversee cabinet meetings, you can't shout this slogan," he said. "Nawaz or his parliament will not get respect because he never gave priority to it in the first place." Bilawal pushed the demand for a South Punjab province and said that it would be a reflection of the masses' choice.
Bilawal urged all state-institutions to function under the allotted jurisdiction.
