The Taiwan Flour Millers' Association purchased 92,975 tonnes of milling wheat to be sourced from the United States in an international tender which closed on April 18, European traders said on Wednesday. The wheat was bought in two consignments for shipment from the US Pacific North West coast.
The first consignment for shipment between June 1-15 involved 24,650 tonnes of US dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought at $301.82 a tonne FOB US Pacific North West coast, traders said. Another 15,000 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5 percent protein content was bought at $259.50 a tonne FOB and 7,400 tonnes of western white wheat with 9 percent protein was bought at $221.58 a tonne FOB.
The first consignment has an additional freight charge of $30.85 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said. The first consignment was all sold by trading house CHS, they said. The second consignment for shipment between June 18 to July 2 involved 26,300 tonnes of dark northern spring wheat of 14.5 percent protein content bought at $298.83 a tonne FOB from trading house ADM.
The second consignment also included 13,175 tonnes of hard red winter wheat of 12.5 percent protein content bought at $255.88 a tonne FOB from the United Grain Corporation. Another 6,450 tonnes of western white wheat with 9 percent protein was bought at $221.58 a tonne FOB, also from the United Grain Corporation they said. The second consignment has an additional charge of $31.50 a tonne for ocean shipping from the US Pacific North West coast to Taiwan, they said.
