Despite tight security arrangements in the federal capital, the incidents of snatching of cash, cell phones and other valuables at gunpoint registered a significant increase during the last week. According to data gathered by Business Recorder here on Saturday, seven cases of snatching at gunpoint, five cases of robberies including pick-pocketing, seven cases of car-lifting and one case each of kidnapping and murder were reported to various police stations of the city during last seven days.
The most 'favourite' areas for criminal gangs were within the limits of Khanna, Industrial Area and Koral police stations. Khanna police station which is located in rural zone of the federal capital registered five cases, of which three cases were of snatching at gunpoint and one each of robbery and auto theft. The auto thieves stole a car bearing registration number AAN-007 of one Darya Khan from the limits of Khanna police station.
One Moeen Ilyas filed a complaint with Khanna police station that unknown robbers stole cash, prize bonds and other valuables from his house. Another Haris Ali informed Khanna police station that unknown bandits riding a bike snatched cash and a cellphone from him at gunpoint. In another incident, some unknown armed robbers riding a bike snatched a mobile phone and cash from one Malik Imran in the jurisdiction of Khanna police station.
One Zahida Perveen filed a complaint with Khanna police station that two unknown robbers riding a bike snatched jewellery from her at gunpoint. Industrial Area police station filed four cases during the last week. One Aamir Hussain filed a complaint with Industrial Area police station that unknown pickpocket stole cash from his pocket.
Similarly, one victim Faisal Ehsan informed Industrial Area police station that unknown robbers riding a bike snatched mobile phone from him. One Muhsin Nawaz filed a complaint with Industrial Area police station that accused Aamir Shahzad stole a cellphone from his pocket. The thieves stole a bike of one Ishtiaq Ali in a separate incident. Koral police station registered one case each of snatching and auto theft. One Khalid Mahmood filed a complaint with Koral police station that unknown persons riding bike snatched cash from him.
The thieves stole a bike bearing registration number RIV-7418 of one Muhammad Shaukat. One Haji Shahid Muhammad informed Sabzi Mandi police station that three unknown bandits snatched cash from his brother-in-law Ahmad Baksh and killed him the moment he offered resistance. Similarly, one Afshan Sharif informed Lohi Bher police station that accused Israr Ahmad had kidnapped his son Ahmad Ali. During the aforementioned period, Kohsar and Bhara Kahu police stations registered one case each of robbery while Noon, Shahzad Town and Aabpara police stations registered one case each of auto theft.
