Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan Saturday said that Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) has been accredited by the United States Joint Commission International and termed the day one of the happiest ones in his life. Taking to Twitter to share the joy with his followers, he said that after a thorough audit lasting for days, SKMCH has been recognized internationally as a provider of world-class services.
The hospital is a philanthropic venture of PTI chairman. It is Pakistan's largest cancer hospital and is also home to the largest radiation oncology centre in the country. Khan also thanked the team of his cancer hospital, including doctors, nurses and staff, who worked hard for the accreditation.
"Congratulations to the SKM team which has worked dedicatedly to achieve this great milestone. I want to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff (all Pakistanis) who have shown that Pakistanis, with commitment and determination, can build & sustain world-class institutions," he said in another tweet. "What makes this recognition even more fulfilling is that SKMCH provides free medical treatment to 75 percent of its patients," he stated. "This provision of world-class treatment to the poor at par with that provided to paying patients is unique in SKMCH," Khan added.
