Seven persons were injured when armed men attacked Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) office in F B Area Block 13, here Monday. Sindh JI Emir Merajul Huda Siddiqui blamed MQM saying a charged mob of around 40 to 50 persons holding sticks came on motorbikes around 4pm and started breaking the windows, tables, chairs, computers and beat up the staff. Seven JI workers were injured in the assault, he added.
A water filter plant inside the Al-Khidmat Health Center premises was also destroyed by the attackers. The women staff was threatened with dire consequences, he added. The injured have been identified as Hammad Chandio, Yousaf Khan, Faizan Kayani, Abid Hussain, Talha Hafeez and two others.
An FIR has been lodged in Gulberg police station. A motorbike bearing plate number - KAX-3334 was also allegedly taken away by the attackers. Huda said a few days ago the IJT students did not allow cheating at an exam center in Government Premier College, North Nazimabad and hence, it seems that the MQM activists attacked the office in vengeance.
