It is quite heartening to note that Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, currently Punjab Minister for Finance, has emerged as a top contender for the slot of caretaker prime minister.
A Business Recorder news item has claimed quoting sources that the name of distinguished economist Dr Hafiz Pasha was earlier tipped as the strongest candidate for the post since the establishment wanted a person with a strong economic background to lead the interim setup, however, his name was dropped mainly because of his ill health, and his wife has emerged as a serious candidate. Dr Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, too, is a competent economist. She has performed extremely well in the Shahbaz Sharif-led Punjab government.
