The outflows of Foreign Investors Portfolio Investment (FIPI) continued during the current calendar year due to offshore investor concerns over political and economic situation of the country. Foreign investors sold out equities worth over $17.415 million during April 2018. According to the current data issued by the National Clearing Company of Pakistan Limited (NCCPL), foreign investors withdrew over $13.842 million during the current calendar year from January 1, 2018 to April 30, 2018. However, this was much lower than $198.666 million withdrawn during the same period of 2017.
The data shows that foreign investors withdrew $487.114 million from Pakistan's capital market during the calendar year 2017. However, healthy buying was witnessed by local investors and institutions during the first four months of current calendar year. The benchmark KSE-100 index registered a healthy increase of 4,778 points during the first four months of current calendar year and closed at 45,489 points on April 30, 2018.
