The Karachi Port handled 132,667 tonnes of cargo comprising 92,213 tonnes of import cargo and 40,454 tonnes of export cargo including 4,177 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 92,213 tonnes comprised of 32,173 tonnes of containerised cargo; 18,931 tonnes of bulk cargo; 30,297 tonnes of coal and 10,812 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,454 tonnes comprised of 24,305 tonnes of containerised cargo; 6,934 tonnes of wheat; 1,915 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 7,300 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,177 containers comprising of 2,462 containers import and 1,715 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 636 of 20's and 811 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 101 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 641 of 20's and 422 of 40's loaded containers while 166 of 20's and 32 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were five ships namely Ningbo Express, Kota Lagu, MS Tiger, MT Karachi and Oriental Freesia carrying containers and oil tankers respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. OOCL California, MT Lahore, Mimi Selmer and Industrial Royal carrying containers, oil tanker, coal and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 141,899 tonnes comprising 117,237 tonnes of import cargo and 24,662 tonnes of export cargo including 3,921 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 117,237 tonnes includes 31,821 tonnes of diesel oil; 5,430 tonnes of furnace oil; 9,000 tonnes of palm oil; 13,000 tonnes of coal; 6,110 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 2,039 tonnes of chemical and 49,837 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 24,662 tonnes includes 24,662 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,921 containers comprising of 2,623 containers import and 1,298 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday. There were two ships namely CV Maersk Atlanta and MV Gas Ionian carrying containers and chemical respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday afternoon.
A total number of nine vessels viz. CV Maersk Atlanta, CV CSAV Tybdall, MV Trans Ocean, MV African Puffin, MV Islander, MV Crimson Empress, MT Gas Ionian, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Lily were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fourteen ships namely CV MSC Samantha, MV Mg Hammont, MV White Hawk, MV Zhen Bang, MV Santa Rita, MV Thor Insuvi, MV Taj Honesty, MV YM Jupiter, MT Maria-III, MT White Purl, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Constantinos and UACC Muharraq carrying containers, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were two vessels viz. CV MSC Samantha and MV Taj Honesty carrying containers and coal expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal and Iron Ore & Coal Berth respectively on Wednesday. There were four ships namely CV CSAV Tandall, CV Maersk Atlanta, CV MSC Samantha and MT Gas Ionian carrying containers and chemical respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are two ships namely CV Express Athens and MV Da Chang carrying containers and general cargo respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
