The Karachi Port handled 171,743 tonnes of cargo comprising 134,501 tonnes of import cargo and 37,242 tonnes of export cargo including 4,856 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Thursday. The total import cargo of 134,501 tonnes comprised of 41,169 tonnes of containerised cargo; 3,352 tonnes of bulk cargo; 31,089 tonnes of coal and 58,891 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 37,242 tonnes comprised of 16,956 tonnes of containerised cargo; 554 tonnes of bulk cargo; 11,080 tonnes of wheat; 3,252 tonnes of wheat (Gandum) and 5,400 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 4,856 containers comprising of 3,080 containers import and 1,776 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 866 of 20's and 1,057 of 40's loaded while nil of 20's and 50 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 582 of 20's and 69 of 40's loaded containers while 390 of 20's and 333 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were five ships namely Navios Verano, Kota Kaya, Nurbano-1, Chemroad Polaris and Valovine carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period. There were six vessels viz. KMTC Dubai, Kota Kaya, Kota Layar, Bristol Trader, Blue Bird and East Ayutthaya carrying containers, oil tankers and wheat respectively currently at the berths.
The total import cargo of 87,458 tonnes includes 26,944 tonnes of diesel oil; 12,797 tonnes of palm oil; 11,073 tonnes of coal; 5,859 tonnes of soyabean seeds; 632 tonnes of chemical and 30,153 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 64,579 tonnes includes 27,377 tonnes of cement and 37,202 tonnes of containerised cargo.
As many as 3,545 containers comprising of 1,587 containers import and 1,958 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Thursday. There were four ships namely CV CSAV Tybdall, MV Gas Ionian, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Lily carrying containers, chemical. Diesel oil and palm oil respectively sailed out to sea on Thursday afternoon.
A total number of ten vessels viz. CV MSC Samantha, CV CSAV Tybdall, MV Trans Ocean, MV African Puffin, MV Islander, MV Crimson Empress, MV Taj Honesty, MV Gas Ionian, MT Al-Soor-II and MT Chemroad Lily were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, cement, soyabean seeds, coal, chemical, diesel oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fifteen ships namely MV Da Chang, MV Industrial Dolphin, MV MG Hammont, MV White Hawk, MV Zhen Bang, MV Santa Rita, MV Thor Insuvi, MV YM Jupiter, MT Maria-III, MT White Purl, MT Pacific Lagoon, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Jo Pinari, MT Constantinos and UACC Muharraq carrying project cargo, soyabean, canola seeds, coal, chemical, LPG, furnace oil, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were five vessels viz. CV Express Athens, MT UMM Alamad, MT White Purl, MT Pacific Lagoon and UACC Muharraq carrying containers, LNG, LPG, furnace oil and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, Engro Elengy Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, FOTCO Oil Terminal, and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Thursday.
There were five ships namely CV Express Athens, CV Maersk Atlanta, MV Da Chang, MT UMM Alamad and MT Silver Emily carrying containers, general cargo, LNG and palm oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday. There are two ships namely CV CMA CGM Blue Whale and CV GH Chinook carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Friday.
