Keep on targeting the judiciary, the ousted premier Nawaz Sharif on Friday said those who should be punished are being acquitted while those who did nothing wrong are facing trials. Talking to the media outside the accountability court hearing corruption cases against him and family members, Sharif criticized acquittal of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in the SSP Asmatullah Junejo attack case.
To a question Sharif said neither did Imran Khan appear before the court nor was trial held in his case but even then he is acquitted. "I was not allowed to visit London where my wife is undergoing cancer treatment," Sharif said, adding that some of his party members were punished for contempt of court and who knows how many more they want to punish.
He further said what message this acquittal will give to the public, as those who assaulted a reputed police officer are being acquitted. Sharif said they are saying they want to conduct free and fair elections but now he is losing trust that free and fair elections will be held. After failure in Lahore rally, Imran Khan is talking about delay in upcoming elections for two months, he said, adding though Khan is talking about delay of two months but he wants to tell him that he will not tolerate even delay of a minute in holding of general elections.
